About Us

    Marc's Guitar Shop was founded on June 1, 2005. Owner Marc Fichtner has been in the business since 1994, and in that time he has gone from part-time help/college student to Store Owner. Until 2002 he worked for a local music store that focused mainly on low-end guitars which is exactly the opposite of what he prefers.

      Expressing being unsatisfied selling the low-end gear to one of his friends who he had been buying guitars from for years, Dave Rogers of Dave`s Guitar Shop. The two began talking about opening a high end store in Marc`s town, Wausau, WI.  This quality of instruments had never been done in his area before and they both thought it would be a good idea. Marc did not have the money to fund the store so his friend Dave set him up in business and on June 28th, 2002 the Wausau Dave`s Guitar Shop opened. The store was received very well in the community. Marc moved the shop in March of 2007 to its NEW location @ 2108 N. 7th St..

      In just 3 years time, from the opening of the first store, Marc took over the shop from Dave. The guitars in the shop range in price from $250 to $24,000, and the amps range from $125 to $6600.  They try to have something or everyone, but if they don`t have what you are looking for they will try to send you to another store or site that does carry what you want. They carry some of the best products in the industry which include Nik Huber, Ruokangas, Artinger, Moonstone, Vinetto, Tom Anderson, Paul Reed Smith, Ernie Ball/Music Man, Breedlove, Lowden & Taylor  for guitars. Mad Professor, Elmwood, Bogner, Diezel, Bumbox, Chicago Blues Box, Swart, Sewell, FUCHS, Victoria, Dr.Z, AER, Acoustic Image and Fishman Loudbox for amps, and that is just to name some of their high-end.      Casey is Marc`s oldest friend and gear whore buddy. They grew up together- but of course never got into any trouble together. Casey does a lot of research into different companies and products that he thinks will work well for the store (or himself) and then Marc checks them out to give the final approval. According to Marc "there are just too many small companies out there for one guy to keep track of and find out about. Casey helps make my life a little bit simpler by scoping out new companies."

        "Trigs" is new to the store. He is a very young guy that absolutely loves gear. He is also a very accomplished player.

       It has always been my dream to have my own high-end shop. We are honored to carry some of the best brands on the market and we truely believe in the products that we have hand picked from the seemingly endless array available.   One thing that I believe our store has going for it is that even though we cannot guarantee that we will know the answer to every question, we can guarantee an honest answer!
